Mar-Tek Industries goes Above And Beyond to fill a very tall order!
Mar-Tek enjoys and appreciates its long standing business relationship as a supplier to one of the premier space industry organizations in the United States, United Launch Alliance (ULA). ULA brings together two of the launch industry’s most experienced and successful rocket launch systems – Atlas and Delta – to provide reliable, cost-efficient space launch services for the U.S. government. U.S. government launch customers include the Department of Defense, NASA, the National Reconnaissance Office and other commercial organizations.
Atlas and Delta expendable launch vehicles have supported America’s presence in space for more than 50 years, carrying a variety of payloads including weather, telecommunications and national security satellites that protect and improve life on Earth, as well as deep space and interplanetary exploration missions that further our knowledge of the universe.
So when ULA recently contacted Mar-Tek to order a super-sized set of rocket-grade decals, needing delivery to the launch site in one week’s time, the only question was “what’s the delivery address”? Well, there were a few other details, like part numbers, final construction specifications, quality code requirements and that all important Purchase Order that were needed. Quickly receiving all of these from ULA, Mar-Tek’s team of highly skilled professionals took on the task immediately to meet the requirements. The outcome was that all six of the required launch vehicle decals were delivered to their destination on time, less than one week after first contact was made. Our team is proud to have been able to construct these symbols of America and its unparalleled leadership in the space industry. Order overview: Six separate decals, ranging in various shapes and sizes up to about eight feet high and ten feet long. Construction details included presentation of each decal in specified strip lengths and widths and use of selective masking to facilitate the most effective application method for this unique requirement.
